On Tuesday, 22 October 2024, MTAA hosted the inaugural RegConnect24 event – the first full-day regulatory event dedicated to the MedTech regulatory community.

Presented with TGA, RegConnect24 addressed questions and challenges from the regulatory community with focused conversations on recent reforms, international collaboration, software & AI regulations, audit framework & approval timelines, digital transformation, real-world evidence and UDI.

The Tech. Arena showcased a range of emerging and innovative technology peaking the interest of both attendees and TGA. Exhibiting technology with live demonstrations and case studies encouraged direct networking between suppliers and TGA, discussions on suppliers regulatory journey, and how the work of regulators are safely enabling life-saving technology to reach so many Australians. 

The event concluded with an exciting and entertaining debate with mixed teams from TGA and industry answering the question, “Would Robots make better regulators?”

Overall, RegConnect24 was an aspiring and encouraging exchange of ideas and options from both industry and the regulator. Transparency and a continuous collaborative partnership with Industry were the values demonstrated and reminded.
